Patrice graduated in Law at the Council of Legal Education School of Law, London, England and was called to the Mauritian Bar in 1978. Patrice is a member of the Middle Temple (one of the four English Inns of Court) and is the holder of French ‘Licence & Maitrise en Droit’. Patrice was elected President of the Mauritius Bar Association in 2008-9 and elevated to the rank of Senior Counsel in June 2010.
Patrice deals with both international and local clients, with the latter being mainly corporate operating in the banking, financial, insurance, hotels, commercial, and industrial sectors. Internationally, Patrice has collaborated with several reputable law firms and Chambers.
Although Patrice is a litigation lawyer who practises mainly before the Supreme Court of Mauritius, he has also appeared on several occasions before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. His work spans both contentious and non-contentious matters: in addition to representing clients in disputes and arbitration, he frequently advises on financial agreements, labour and tax issues, as well as a broad range of contractual matters.
He currently sits as a director in a number of companies, including Avipro Ltd (Poultry Sector), Compagnie de Beau Vallon Ltée (Sugar Activities), Beau Vallon Hospitality Ltd (Tourism), and Astroea Beach Company Ltd (Tourism).
Patrice is currently Chief Editor of the local periodical ‘New Bar Chronicle’.

Angélique is a barrister-at-law, admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in 2000 and to the Mauritian Bar in 2001. She holds an LLB (First Class Honours) from King’s College London and a Maîtrise en Droit Privé (Droit des Affaires) from the Université de Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne). She completed her vocational training at the Inns of Court School of Law in London. In 2025, she was appointed Senior Counsel.
Angélique began her legal career practising as litigation counsel for six years at De Spéville-Sauzier-Desvaux Chambers. She later joined the CIEL Group as Head of Legal, where she notably played a key role in the establishment and launch of one of Mauritius’s first Integrated Resort Scheme projects. In 2009, she returned to private practice and has since worked across both litigation and advisory matters in various areas of law.
Fluent in both English and French, Angélique has appeared in numerous complex and high-profile cases at all levels of the judiciary, including before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. Her practice focuses primarily on civil litigation, with particular interest in employment law, commercial disputes, insurance, family law, private international law, and judicial review.
She has held several corporate governance roles, including serving as an independent non-executive director on the Board of Investec Bank (Mauritius) Ltd from 2005 to April 2019, where she also chaired the Corporate Governance Committee. She was a non-executive director of Rogers & Company Limited until 2025 and currently sits on the Board of Rogers Capital Ltd, where she chairs the Corporate Governance Committee. In addition, she serves as an independent non-executive director of two listed companies: Automatic Systems Ltd and ER.
Beyond her legal and corporate commitments, Angélique has contributed to public service and legal education. She acted as Vice-Chairperson of the National Adoption Council of Mauritius and lectured on family law for the Induction Course delivered to aspiring barristers by the Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies. She is also the co-author of Le Droit de l’Île Maurice, published in France in February 2022 by L.G.D.J. as part of the Bibliothèque de l’Association Henri Capitant series.

Ravi was called to the Bar of Mauritius in January 2009. He was previously called to the Bar of England and Wales in October 2007 after having completed his Bar Vocational Studies at the Inns of Court School of Law at City University. Before that, he completed his LLB at the University of Wolverhampton in 2005.
Ravi started as a practising barrister at De Spéville-Sauzier-Desvaux in 2009, where he had a mixed practice with particular focus on civil, commercial, insurance and employment law disputes. In 2022, he joined a local law firm where he was involved in corporate, banking, insolvency litigation and construction disputes. Ravi returned to DE SPEVILLE-DESVAUX in 2025.
Ravi appears regularly before the Courts and Tribunals of Mauritius and has represented clients in construction arbitrations. He has further acted as junior counsel before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.

With over 15 years of dedicated legal practice, Karyn has established herself as a seasoned barrister in Mauritius, combining courtroom expertise with advisory services. Her career reflects a balance between litigation and transactional work, with a proven ability to represent clients effectively and deliver pragmatic, results-oriented solutions.
After graduating in law from the University of Mauritius, Karyn completed her vocational training at the Council for Vocational and Legal Education. She was called to the Mauritian Bar in January 2009 and has since developed a versatile practice covering both contentious and non-contentious matters. Determined to deepen her knowledge of local legal traditions, she completed the Diplôme Universitaire de Droit Civil Mauricien (2016–2018), a program run by the Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies (IJLS) in collaboration with the Université de la Réunion, where she ranked 1st of her promotion.
She appears regularly before all levels of courts in Mauritius. Her litigation work spans civil and commercial disputes, contract enforcement, property and tenancy matters, employment-related claims, select criminal cases and family issues.
In addition to her courtroom work, Karyn advises on corporate and transactional matters, including company law, regulatory compliance, and commercial contracts. Her advisory work often involves helping clients anticipate and manage legal risks, negotiate agreements, and resolve disputes through alternative dispute resolution methods where possible.
Known for her straightforward and client-focused approach, Karyn places emphasis on understanding her clients’ needs and providing clear, practical solutions. Béatrice is a Barrister-at law with a unique experience in litigation, as well as in legal, trade and ICT related consultancies. She holds a Law Degree from France and a Masters’ Degree (D.E.A) in Public International and European Law from the University of Paris X. She completed the Bar Vocational Course at the BPP Law School in London, was called to the Bar of England and Wales at the Honourable Society of the Lincoln’s Inn in 2010 and called to the Bar of Mauritius in 2011.
As a member of DE SPEVILLE-DESVAUX Chambers in Mauritius, she advises and provides legal advice for negotiations and litigation, particularly in family matters, employment and commercial law. Béatrice sat as the Chairperson of the National Children’s Council Board between 2013 and 2014.
Béatrice is also a consultant and for 7 years, she was a project manager at Enabling Environments Ltd, an international development consultancy working on trade, legal and private sector development issues in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific. At Enabling Environments, she successfully managed large-scale international projects related to international trade, legal drafting, legal and regulatory frameworks, capacity building, Information Communications Technology, etc., which were funded by international and European organisations such as the European Commission, the World Bank and DfID. She has provided legal advice on international contracts, employment contracts and services agreements to Enabling Environments Ltd.
As a consultant, Béatrice currently works as a legal expert and has worked on a number of international projects funded by international organisations, for Caribbean and African countries such as: ‘Consultancy to Determine the Status of Compliance of CARIFORUM Legal and Regulatory Framework with Article 142(2) of the CARIFORUM-EU-EPA’ for CARICOM, Consultancy for Technical Assistance to Carry Out the Preparatory Work Related to Laws and Regulations Necessary for the Establishment of an OECS Services Trade Information Portal’ for the OECS, and ‘Provision of Consultancy Services for the Review of Converged Licensing Framework (CLF)’ for the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority.
For nearly four years now, Béatrice has been working specifically on digital laws and trade. She has also delivered training on the regulation of virtual assets, electronic transactions and blockchain technology to financial institutions and law practitioners through the Institute of Legal and Judicial Studies in Mauritius. Through various consultancy collaborations focused on drafting legislative and regulatory frameworks, including regulatory policies related to sector development, trade facilitation and ICT, Béatrice has acquired a robust knowledge and experience in the regulation of electronic transactions as well as in the regulatory frameworks governing telecommunications and ICT. Béatrice is fluent in English, French, Spanish, Mauritian creole and is conversant in Mandarin.

Emilie joined DE SPEVILLE – DESVAUX in January 2015, shortly after being called to the Bar of Mauritius. She completed an LLB in English and French Law at the University of Kent, United Kingdom, and spent a year at Paris I – Panthéon Sorbonne, where she obtained a Licence en Droit Français. She subsequently completed the Bar Professional Training Course at BPP Law School, London, and was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in 2013.
Keen to deepen her understanding of the Mauritian legal system, Emilie pursued and completed in 2016 the Diplôme Universitaire de Droit Civil Mauricien, a programme offered by the Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies (IJLS) in collaboration with the Université de La Réunion.
Emilie advises and represents clients across the full spectrum of civil and commercial law, with a strong focus on insurance, employment, personal injury, and contractual disputes. She acts as retained counsel for several local companies and divides her time equally between litigation and advisory work.
Emilie is a member of the editorial team of the New Bar Chronicle, a journal dedicated to the legal profession.

Having read law at Swansea University between 2009 and 2012, William undertook the Bar Professional Training Course in Cardiff, before being published a Barrister at the Bar of England and Wales in 2013. William was then called to the Mauritian Bar in January 2015, before completing a Diplôme Universitaire en Droit Civil Mauricien delivered by the Université de La Réunion, in 2016.
William has a predominantly civil practice, with an emphasis on contractual, construction and commercial litigation, appearing principally before the Intermediate and Supreme Courts of Mauritius. William also acts as Counsel in arbitration disputes and frequently appears before an array of committees and tribunals.
In addition to his litigation work, William also advises both local and international clients on transactional and corporate matters. He is the retained lawyer for several domestic companies and sits as a director on certain of them.
William has previously acted as Prosecuting Counsel in Local Authority matters and served as member of the Board of Appeal of the Mauritius Turf Club.

Mathilde was admitted to the Mauritius Bar in January 2018 and subsequently joined the chambers DE SPEVILLE-DESVAUX. She holds a Bachelor of Laws in English and French Law from the University of Exeter (UK) and pursued further studies at the University of Rennes 1, where she earned a Master’s degree in European and International Law. She also holds a Diplôme Universitaire en Droit Civil Mauricien delivered by Université de la Réunion.
She completed the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) at BPP Law School in London and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2016. Prior to her professional training at renowned chambers and the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Mauritius, she trained with FTPA Associés in Paris and worked as a paralegal at FieldFisher LLP in London. Mathilde was called to the Bar of Mauritius in 2018.
Mathilde primarily practices in civil law, commercial law, and employment law. Her work focuses on advising and closely supporting clients in managing their legal issues, while maintaining a targeted litigation practice. She also regularly conducts training sessions within companies, particularly on employment law matters.

Charles joined the Chambers in 2019. He studied at the University of Montpellier in France where he obtained a “Licence en Droit” and then, undertook a “Maîtrise en Droit Privé Général” at the University of Bordeaux in France.
Charles completed a Graduate Diploma in Law at BPP University in Bristol and followed the Bar Professional Training Course at BPP Law School in London. He was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in 2018 and subsequently, was called to the Mauritian Bar in September 2019. In 2020, he was a member of the Young Bar Committee of the Bar of Mauritius and in 2022, he obtained a “Diplôme d’Université de Droit Civil Mauricien” from the University of La Réunion.

Bhavish was called to the Bar of England and Wales in November 2018, following his admission to the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple in June 2017. He was called to the Bar of the Republic of Mauritius in September 2020 and subsequently joined DE SPEVILLE-DESVAUX in October 2020.
Bhavish accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ expertise, regularly appearing before all courts and tribunals in Mauritius. His broad practice encompasses civil, criminal, commercial, public, and administrative law, with a growing focus on complex high-stakes legal matters.
Bhavish graduated with First Class Honours in Law from the University of Northampton, where he was awarded the International Scholarship for Academic Achievement. He was recognised with the prestigious Oxford University Press Prize for Outstanding Academic Achievement and the Shoosmiths Prize for Outstanding Overall Contribution. Bhavish thereafter completed the Bar Professional Training Course at Nottingham Law School, where he was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship for Academic Excellence and a Master of Laws with Distinction in 2019.
During his time in the United Kingdom, Bhavish gained invaluable pro bono experience, volunteering with the Free Representation Unit and the Nottingham Law School Legal Advice Centre. He represented clients in Employment and Social Security Tribunals and before County Courts in Nottingham and Leicester.
In addition to his legal practice, Bhavish is a tutor in Law of Evidence for final-year law students at Paris-Panthéon-Assas University. He also contributes to the professional development of the legal community as a member of the Young Bar Committee of the Mauritius Bar Association, supporting initiatives for junior barristers in Mauritius.

Zahra joined the Chambers in September 2022, following her call to the Bar of Mauritius.
Zahra studied law at Nelson Mandela University, South Africa. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Law and the Bar Professional Training Course qualification from BPP Law School, Birmingham. She was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in 2021 and is a member of the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn. In 2024, she also completed the Diplôme Universitaire en droit civil mauricien.
Beyond her legal practice, Zahra is a disability rights consultant and advocate. She works extensively on disability laws, policies, and related legal matters through conferences, workshops, and advisory roles.
